McKillop Park in Morris Road was named for the McKillop family who donated one and a half acres of land to the Redcliffe City Council. The McKillops were a pioneering family, William John McKillop and his wife Margaret settling on the Peninsula in 1889. They had 11 children, 2 of whom died in infancy. Two of William and Margaret’s sons, William born 1890, and Arthur Edward born 1898, purchased 400 acres of land between Gynther and Nathan roads in 1919 and established a dairy and slaughter yard. Arthur married Margaret McGahey in 1924 and they later ran the ‘Bonnie Doon’ dairy for many years. -- Redcliffe : Looking at the landscape by Pat Gee acknowledging the work of Jack Stapleton and Pat Fields
