Morgan Park was named for Edwin (Ned) Francis Morgan, born at Bathurst in 1847. Ned came to Queensland and married Louisa Bell in 1873. Ned was one of the three Morgan brothers who pegged out a goldmining lease on Ironstone Mountain near Rockhampton which they later re-named Mt Morgan. Towards the end of the 1880s the brothers sold out their shares and Edwin came to live in Brisbane. He was first elected to the Redcliffe Divisional Board in February 1903. He was then elected Chairman for the Redcliffe Shire Council in 1905 and retired in 1906. He died in Brisbane in 1916. -- Redcliffe : Looking at the landscape by Pat Gee acknowledging the work of Jack Stapleton and Pat Fields
