Raymond James Frawley was born in Brisbane in 1928 and moved to Redcliffe in 1945. A former athlete, Ray won 13 State titles in long jump, triple jump, javelin and pentathlon. He trained as a motor mechanic and moved to the Woody Point Garage as a co-partner in 1953. He conducted his own business for many years and was first elected to Council in 1973. He was elected mayor of Redcliffe for three terms, 1976, 1979, and 1982 after which he chose not to run for the position of mayor again.
