This reserve is located on Gibbons Road Samford Valley near the intersection with Mount Samson Road. This Reserve is named in honour of Private Frank Cash who lived nearby in the old house on part of the old CSIRO land. Frank was born on 6 April 1895 in Strathpine, one of nine children to John and Bridget Cash who owned a farm in Samford. After attending Samford State School, Frank listed his trade or calling as labourer. Along with 3 of his brothres, Frank enlisted for World War One, joining the 1st Australian Imperial Force at Brisbane, Queensland on 17 January 1916. After completing his training he sailed for England on the troop ship A49 Seang Choon arriving at Plymouth on 9 December 1916. Here his service with the 8th Australian Training Battalion was chequered with illness, injury and discipline problems. On 20 August 1917 Frank joined the 31st Battalion, seeing action in France and Belgium. He was reported missing in action on 26 September 1917 in Belgium. This was later confirmed at a Court of Enquiry on 5 October 1918 as killed in action on 26 September 1917. His name is commemorated at the Menin Gate Memorial, Iper, Belgium.
