Valentine typewriter
Released by Olivetti in the 1960s, the Valentine typewriter was designed by Ettore Sottsass and Perry King. It was designed to be an attractive object that was anti-machine and anti-work that people would enjoy using. The typewriter was available in white, green and blue, but its most famous form was red. The bright red ABS plastic case distinguished it from other office equipment of the time.
As a typewriter, the Valentine was not a commercial success. It did however become revered as a 20th century design icon. It is still in demand among collectors and is displayed in Design museums worldwide.
