DETAILS
TitleAnswering visitors questions : about Bribie IslandDescriptionAnnotation. Written over many years, a collection of 120 sheets covering over 60 subjects used to help volunteers in answering questions about Bribie Island's history. Demand for these information sheets grew along with the Visitor Information Centre The Bribie Island Chamber of Commerce established the first Bribie Island Visitor Information Centre, operated by volunteers in 1978 in the foyer of the Koolamara Motel, in the days when tourist busses had a photo stop for the Koolamara Stone Murals. In 1986 the Chamber purchased a small building for an Information Centre which was placed on Council land in the middle of the main road as a first stop for visitors after they crossed by bridge to the Island. In 1994, the Bribie Island Chamber of Commerce Inc. purchased a much larger centre for $24,000 of which Council contributed one third. However, by 2003 difficulties in arranging volunteer insurance without a lease on the land caused the Chamber to hand the Centre to the Council.Personal authorOutram, WarwickImprintBongaree, [Qld.] : Warwick Outram Publications, [2014?]LanguageEnglishDate2014Collation125 p. : illustrations (some colour), maps, portraits (some colour), facsimiles ; 30 cmISBN9780992441050Bib. formatBooksNotesIncludes index.
