DETAILS
TitlePassing the baton in the relay of residents joining, participating, then leaving the Bribie Island Community / by Warwick Outram.Alternative titlePassing the baton in the Bribie Community relayDescriptionBribie Island is the retirement capital of Australia, according the census figures, home to many happy retirees. The 'oldies' of Bribie requested the author to write this book to raise their concerns about the composition of the future Bribie community and the problems it may face. Concerns include a threatened population imbalance as young people leave to find jobs further afield and the loss of services that may follow, the condition of the beach and sand dunes, a Government lease to a private company to farm non-native trees, and the threat of the introduction of tilapia into Bribie's waterways. The 'baton of community care' has been passed to the younger generation.Personal authorOutram, Warwick, authorImprintBongaree, [Queensland] : Warwick Outram Publications, [2015]LanguageEnglishDate2015Collation54 pages : illustrations (some colour), maps (some colour) ; 30 cm.ISBN9780994304421Bib. formatBooksNotesIncludes index.
