Caboolture District Roll of Honour
DETAILS
TitleCaboolture District Roll of HonourDescriptionThe Honour Board was commissioned by the Caboolture sub-branch RSSILA (now known as Caboolture Morayfield RSL sub-branch). They began the process as early as 2nd July, 1925. On 25th April, 1926, the ceremony of unveiling the Honour Board took place at the Memorial Hall. The returned soldiers lined the vestibule at the hall as a guard of honour. The unveiling was carried out by Mr. R J Warren and the consecration of the tablet by the Rev. Mr. Mills. The honour tablet is made of white marble, designed as pentagon (shaped like a house), bearing the names of 195 servicemen that enlisted from the Caboolture district in the First World War (1914-1918). At the top of the tablet is a rising sun. A united memorial service was conducted in the hall which approximately 500 people attended. The Rev. Mr. Mills (Church of England) was the officiating clergyman. He was supported in the service bv the Rev. Mr. Foulkes (Methodist minister), Captain Beagrove (Salvation Army) and Mr. R. J. Warren. Until April 2023, the board was located in the foyer of the Caboolture RSL (now (2023) site of Caboolture Central Sports Club, Cnr Beerburrum Road & Hasking Street, Caboolture, Queensland).
