Archibald's brothers were listed on the electoral roll as living at Cedar Creek. Archie obtained the rank of Corporal while on training. On 1 January 1917 Archibald was reported missing. It was discovered that he was a prisoner of war on 2 February 1917 and interred at Friedrichsfeld, Limberg Germany. Archibald returned to Cardwell and continued working as a farmer.
