Leonard 's parents were Harry Wright and Mary Ann Shield. Leonard's father, Harry was a teacher at Bunya School from 1882 to 1888, he also worked for the Pine Divisional Board as a clerk and valuator from 1888 to 1891. Leonard enlisted on 31 May 1915 at Brisbane. He embarked from Queensland on the A60 "Aleneas" on 29 June 1915. Leonard was in the battle of Menin Road on 29 September 1917 and the participated in the capture of Broodseinde ridge in which Leonard was killed in action in part of the battle at "Zonnebek Ridge".Birth date08 November 1884Death date04 October 1917
