Edmund/Edward John aged 18 when he enlisted son of Sarah Ann Cain. Edmund or Edward John first enlisted under Edmund and the second time enlisted under Edward. He was so keen to enlist he lied about his age by a year. His mother got information that he had enlisted under age and wrote a letter to the Officer Commanding at the 5th Depot Battalion where he was posted. He was discharged
he then waited a year and re-enlisted. His occupation after the war was a farmer and he lived at Albany Creek.
