TitleMarquee setup for the official Opening of the Petrie Mill, 6 December 1957DescriptionThe APM Paper Talk magazine reported the occasion as follows - More than 800 guests, including a number from interstate and overseas, attended the inauguration which took place on a typical Queensland summer, sunny day. The guests were received under shady awnings in front of the mill administration block and were conducted to their seats in a huge marquee erected on the mill lawns. Petrie looked a picture for the big occasion. The flags flying from the Mill flagpole, gay bunting festooned along the covered walkways between the mill buildings, floral decorations and the bright music of the Northern Command Band all added to the gala atmosphere. It was also reported that a Welcome Menzies banner covered the entrance to the marquee.Date6 December 1957PhotographerAustralian Paper ManufacturersCollectorAustralian Paper ManufacturersRecord typePhotographFormat typeDigitalOriginal format colourBlack and white
