TitleJohn Ross (Senior)DescriptionJohn Ross was born in Scotland in 1858. He married Jane Stott who was born in 1859. Their two sons John and William were born in Scotland. The family arrived in Moreton Bay on the Southesk on 27 May 1882. On 15 July 1897 John Ross selected two properties at Ocean View, Portion 26V Parish of Pine, containing an area of 476 acres and Portion 35V Parish of Pine, containing an area of 93 acres. Sometime later Portion 26V was subdivided into three blocks. He retained one block and the other two were sold to the neighbouring Townsend and Bond families. Jane Ross died on 29 March 1921, shortly after they retired to Dayboro. John died on 24 August 1941, aged 83.
