TitleCaboolture Historical Village - Original Council ChambersDescriptionCaboolture Historical Village in Beerburrum Road Caboolture. Original Council Chambers. The original Caboolture Shire Council Chambers were built by a local carpenter Mr James Pleace at a cost of 300 pounds ($600.00) in 1883 to house the Caboolture Divisional Board which was formed on 11 November 1879. This building was located on land directly behind No. 36 King Street Caboolture (which was the location of the original Caboolture Post Office (south eastern corner at the intersection of King Street and Morayfield Road Caboolture)). This building was used until 1954 when the Council Chambers were relocated in a new two-storey brick building at No. 41 King Street Caboolture. Because of the Shire's growth and the increase in staff this building became inadequate for Council operations thus a new multi-storey administration building was constructed in 1986 to cater for the continued growth. And in September 1987 the Council Chambers were relocated again to the current (1997) building at No. 2 Hasking Street Caboolture and the building at No. 41 King Street was subsequently demolished in July 1995 to make way for the central business district redevelopment. The new Town Square was then opened in February in 1997.
