The sisters were Sister Linford and Sister Drummond. A section of the 2/7th Dental Unit was also sent there to treat the 9th Division engineers who were doing barge training on the beach (where the bridge now connects the island to the mainland). The dental unit consisted of Captain W.O. Cavanagh (Qld), Senior Sergeant K. Wood (SA), Corporal C. Austin (Qld) and Privates J. Mitchell and L. Wilkins (SA).
