From left - Rick (soldier from Melbourne, surname unknown), Rill Lancashire (nee Hermann), Frances Herman and Edna Hermann. William Briggs owned Portions 14, 15, 16 and 17, Parish of Redcliffe. He bought these in August 1862, a total of 198 acres. His land was on the northern banks of the North Pine River, part of which would have been near the current university site, The Mill, located at 965 Gympie Road, Petrie.
