TitleAerial view of Caboolture Township in 1986DescriptionThis 1986 aerial photograph was taken looking west along King Street Caboolture where the Central Business District (CBD) area is in the Caboolture Township. The main intersection of King Street, Morayfield Road and Beerburrum Road can be seen near the centre of the photograph. This intersection was the first intersection in Caboolture to get traffic lights. The Tree of Knowledge (Moreton Bay Fig) is located on the south-eastern corner of the intersection in front of the Caboolture Post Office (and Telecom Exchange) which is next to the Caboolture Police Station and near the Caboolture Courthouse (eastern side of the police station). On the north-western corner was Carmody's Royal Hotel (corner King Street and Beerburrum Road) which has been replaced by a commercial office building (33 King Street Caboolture). The building next to it on the northern side of King Street is the old Caboolture Shire Council Administration building at 41 King Street Caboolture. The construction of the new Caboolture Shire Council Administration building can be seen on the right of the photograph with the Caboolture Library and carpark nearby. The first major shopping centre in Caboolture was Caboolture Park Shopping Centre which is the large commercial building on the southern side of King Street and backs onto Elliott Street. As part of this development the realignment of the intersection of Elliott Street, Morayfield Road and Esme Street was still under construction at the time of the photograph. Further south along Morayfield Road (left side of the photograph) are the Centenary Lakes area and gardens. On the top right side of the photograph shows the old Caboolture War Veteran's Home (near the water tower) in King Street Caboolture which shared a common fence boundary with the Caboolture State Primary School located in George Street Caboolture. Still on the right side of the photograph the Caboolture Senior Citizens Hall can be seen at the corner of George Street and Hasking Street (next to the carpark). Heading west along King Street and opposite the shopping centre was Battersby Park (western side of the Council Chambers, the Caboolture Fire Station and then the Caboolture Memorial Hall.
