Originally named Macadamia Street Park. In May 2003 the Community Renewal Caboolture South Reference Group approached Council to rename the park. In July 2003 council renamed it Kate McGrath's Koala Park in honour of Kate McGrath who passed away. Kate worked tirelessly in the Caboolture South Community and was instrumental in forming monthly meetings of local residents that were able to address local issues.
