Councillor of Pine Rivers, George Biggs was born 1840 in Hampshire, England. In August 1869 George selected land in the parish of Bunya three sons and seven daughters were born to George and Emma. George commenced correspondence to obtain the site for and building of a school in the Bunya area. The school was built and being used well before the 1888 formation of Pine Divisional Board. Mr Biggs was a member of that board servicing ten consecutive years, three of them as Board Chairman. In 1902 George Biggs again nominated and was elected as Pine Divisional Board member, he also became Chairman for that year. In 1905, Mr Biggs did not offer himself for re-election. George Biggs died 18 December 1916 aged 76, burial Lutwyche Cemetery.
