Councillor of Pine Rivers, James Henry Akers was unsuccessful in 1958 and 1961. He was elected unopposed in 1964 and polled well in 1967 and 1970 each time to represent the Division Three area of the shire. He was Pine Rivers Shire Council representative and chairman of the Pine Rivers Fire Brigade for twelve years from inception, foundation president of Pine Rivers Rowing Club, a trustee of Pine Rivers AH&I Association and a keen foundation member of Pine Rivers Lions Club. He did not re-nominate in 1973 due to injuries when he was hit by a car on Gympie Road Lawnton. James Henry Akers died 26 December 1975 aged 61, Mt Thompson Cremation
