Carl (Karl) was the first son of Sven Christianson and Anna Maria Magdalena Mehrens. His parents were dead when Carl and his three other brothers, Sven [2149], Hans [Discharged] and Christian (Christy) Carl [3058] enlisted in 1916. Carl was single and farming at Buderim, Queensland, when he enlisted. He was killed in action during the Battle of Mont-St Quentin. He was initially buried in an isolated grave then reinterred in the Peronne Communal Cemetery. Both his brothers, Sven and Christy, returned home, however, Christy was placed in a Mental Hospital in Sydney due to being gassed and died in 1959.
