Camp Ritter Collection

Craig Ritter's reminiscences of the campsite he and his friends created at One Mile Creek near Gordon's Quarry (now part of Chandler Reserve, Joyner) in 1969. Includes photographs taken of the region now, along with notes on Craig's recollections. Includes a hand drawn sketch by Craig Ritter and a detailed hand-drawn sketch commissioned by Craig Ritter. 

In the late 60s, as kids, Craig Ritter and three friends, Tony (Anthony) Wheeler, Mark Christie and Billy (William) Grice created a camp in Chandler Reserve. Mr Gordon after whom Gordon's Crossing was named, owned the land and lived at the top of the scrub. He let kids come through if they were polite. Craig Ritter and his friends set up camps in the bank of One Mile Creek. They used the creek to keep their food cool. Craig recalls watching the moon landing in 1969 and looking up at the moon from the camp.
